For Communications News Writing, my final project was a news article where I was tasked with choosing a topic I believe to be newsworthy. Passionate about social media influencers and their impact on the beauty industry, I interviewed a handful of Penn State Students as well as social media influencers to gain insight on how influencers are shaping the beauty industry today. I wanted to bridge the gap between both sides and compare the viewpoint of content creators with their followers. I had the privilege of interviewing 3 of my favorite content creators: Olivia Boblet, a lifestyle influencer out of Michigan, Nicole Kramer, who originally got her start as the personal assistant to Netflix's Selling Sunset Mary Fitzgerald, and now specializes in social media management, and finally, one of the biggest content creators of this generation, Alix Earle. I spoke with each of these incredible women and was able to learn about their experiences with the beauty industry. They provided valuable insight into the impacts they've felt from the industry, how they curate content for their audience that is authentic to them, and of course what a few of their favorite products are.
